Hardships

If there is anything my Grandmother taught me it is that growth can always be made.
I believe I have had my fair share of hardships, but I'm proud of them because they have made me who I am today. If I would not had gone through tough times then you probably would not even recognize me.
I had the greatest gift waiting for me when I was first born, a second mom. My Grandmother had lived with my parents for about 15 years when I came into the world. And she was the best even back then. But when I was born, both of my parents were in their 40s and were not ready to cut back on work anytime soon. They both loved their jobs so much and did not want risk losing them. And thankfully for them my Grandmother was there to help make sure that didn't happen.
When I was born, my Mother tells me that handed me over to my Grandmother and went right back to work. My Grandmother watched me all day so I never had to go to daycare. Because of this I was extremely spoiled, but I turned out to be extremely grateful.
My Grandmother turned out to be the best person I had ever met. And as years went on my love for her only grew.
In middle school, my parents decided it was best for them to get a divorce. This was the first life changing hardship I had ever gone through. But my Grandmother was there for me the entire way. Although she could no longer drive, she would take me into the back yard or her room when my Mother was upset so I wouldn't have to witness it. My Grandmother was able to lift my spirits like no one else.
So we got through the divorce and we both started to get older.
Time went on and it was time for me to go to college. She was so happy for me, but there was apart of me that felt guilty leaving her.
Every chance I had my freshman year I would come home and see her.
One day I received the call that I had been dreading my entire life. She had passed away. I was heartbroken and wasn't sure how I was going to go on. But I believe she is the reason I'm doing so well.
Although I miss her so much and would do anything to hear her voice again, I know she is happy and looking over me.
These two hardships have shaped me the most and I'm eternally grateful for my beautiful Grandmother.
